# Notifications (Notification Preferences)

> The merchant dashboard Settings > Notifications page — choose which events you follow, which channel (Email / In-app) delivers them, which team email addresses get copied, and set quiet hours; the bell icon at the top is for viewing notifications you've already received.

## What this is

This is the **Notifications** page under **Settings** in the merchant dashboard (reached via left nav **Settings -> Notifications**, page title "Notifications", subtitle "Pick the events you want to hear about and where they get delivered — Email or Push."). Here you manage notification preferences centrally: set which channel (**Email / In-app**) delivers each event type, **cc notifications to team email addresses**, and set **quiet hours**. Come here whenever you want fewer notifications, want finance/ops colleagues to also get notified, or want to adjust how a given event type is delivered.

> This page is where you **configure** notifications. To **view** notifications you've already received, click the **bell** icon in the top-right of the dashboard to open the Notifications inbox; the inbox's "Preferences" link also jumps back to this page.

## Steps

**Open notification settings:** left nav **Settings** -> **Notifications**.

**Add a recipient email (cc to the team):**

1. In the **Recipients** section, click **Add emails** in the top-right.
2. In the dialog, paste one or more email addresses, separated by commas, spaces, or new lines.
3. Click **Add recipients**. New emails take effect **immediately** — no need to save separately.
4. To remove an extra email, click the "x" on that email's tag. **The primary email (your login email) has a lock indicator and cannot be removed.**

**Set quiet hours:**

1. Turn on the toggle to the right of the **Quiet hours** section.
2. Choose a start and end time (on the hour, e.g. 22:00 to 08:00).
3. Click **Save** on the right of that section. Non-critical notifications pause during quiet hours; **security alerts still get through**.

**Adjust the delivery channel per event type:**

1. Pick a business line tab below: **Account / Global accounts / Payments / Cards / Crypto / System updates**.
2. Each event row has two checkboxes on the right, for **Email** and **In-app**; checking one means that channel delivers it, unchecking means it doesn't.
3. Click **Save** in the top-right of the section when done — "Preferences saved" confirms success.
4. Greyed-out, unselectable rows are **security notifications** — both channels are forced on and can't be turned off.

**View notifications you've received:** click the **bell** icon in the top-right of the dashboard to open the Notifications inbox — the list is on the left, the selected notification's body on the right; filter by **Unread / All**, type, date, or keyword; click a single notification to mark it read, or use "Mark {count} as read" to mark all at once.

## Fields and statuses

**Delivery channels:**

| Channel | Meaning (merchant view) |
| ------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Email | Notification is sent to your inbox (primary email + any added extra emails) |
| In-app | Notification appears in the Notifications inbox under the bell icon in the top-right of the dashboard |

> Security notifications are **always delivered via email and can't be turned off.**

**Recipients section:**

| Item | Meaning |
| ---------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Primary email | Your login email, has a lock indicator, always receives notifications, can't be removed |
| Extra recipients | Team emails you've added, up to 10; adding/removing takes effect immediately |
| Bottom counter | Shows total recipients, plus "used / limit" for the extra-recipient allowance |

**Quiet hours:** once the toggle is on, non-critical notifications pause during the configured window; security alerts are unaffected and are still delivered as usual.

**Notification business-line tabs (channel configurable per item):**

| Tab | Covers |
| --------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Account | Account health, security and team related (risk & security / account updates / team & access) |
| Global accounts | Balances, transfers, conversions and global account activity (money movement / balance alerts / account status) |
| Payments | Acquiring activity: payments received, refunds, disputes & chargebacks, settlement (transactions / disputes & chargebacks / settlement) |
| Cards | Card issuance, spend and limit activity (issuance / balance / spend activity / controls) |
| Crypto | On/off-ramp, custody and digital asset movement (asset movement / ramp / addresses) |
| System updates | Platform announcements, maintenance and product releases (platform / product) |

**Forced-on notifications that can't be turned off** (security, both channels locked on):

* Account: account status information requests, fraud investigations on your account, payout capability issues, security related alerts, unusual activity on your account
* Global accounts: account blocked or frozen
* Payments: dispute opened
* System: platform announcements, scheduled maintenance, incident updates, legal or policy updates

**Notification inbox (bell) filters:**

| Item | Meaning |
| ------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Unread / All | Toggle between unread only and all notifications; the Unread tab shows an unread count |
| Type | Filter by business category: Global accounts, Payments, Cards, Crypto, Treasury, Announcement, System |
| Date | Filter by date range |
| Search box | Search notifications by keyword |

## Edge cases and troubleshooting

* **A notification type can't be unchecked, the row is greyed out**: it's a security notification — both channels are forced on and can't be turned off.
* **Only want email, not in-app (or vice versa)**: uncheck the unwanted channel's box on that event's row, then click **Save**.
* **Want finance/ops colleagues to also get notified**: click **Add emails** in the **Recipients** section to add their team email (up to 10) — it takes effect immediately.
* **The "Add emails" button won't click**: extra recipients have hit the limit of 10 — remove some before adding more.
* **Error when adding an email**: the email format is invalid, the email is already on the list, or it exceeds the remaining allowance — adjust per the dialog's message and retry.
* **Changed channel checkboxes but nothing happened**: you need to click **Save** in the top-right of the section for checkbox changes to take effect; only adding/removing recipient emails is immediate and needs no save.
* **Don't want to be disturbed at night**: turn on **Quiet hours** and set a window — non-critical notifications pause during that time, but security alerts still get through.
* **New account defaults to a lot of emails**: new accounts default most events to email on, in-app off — adjust per event on each business-line tab as needed.

## Common questions (Q\&A)

* **Q: Where are notification settings? / How do I configure notifications?** A: Left nav **Settings -> Notifications** — set the delivery channel (Email / In-app), cc recipients, and quiet hours here.
* **Q: I'm getting too many notifications — how do I cut down?** A: Go to **Settings -> Notifications**, uncheck the email or in-app box for unwanted events on each business-line tab, then click **Save**; security notifications can't be turned off.
* **Q: Why can't some notifications be turned off?** A: Security notifications (e.g. security related alerts, fraud investigations on your account, platform announcements) are forced on — neither the email nor in-app channel can be disabled.
* **Q: How many channels are there? What's the difference between email and in-app?** A: Two channels — Email is sent to your inbox, In-app appears in the Notifications inbox under the bell icon in the top-right of the dashboard.
* **Q: How do I get a colleague notified too / add a cc email?** A: In the **Recipients** section, click **Add emails**, paste team emails (multiple at once, up to 10), click **Add recipients** — it takes effect immediately.
* **Q: How many recipient emails can I add?** A: Up to 10 extra emails, in addition to the primary email (your login email).
* **Q: Can I remove or change the primary email?** A: No — the primary email is your login email, has a lock indicator, always receives notifications, and can't be removed here.
* **Q: How do I set quiet hours? Will I miss anything important?** A: Turn on the toggle in the **Quiet hours** section, set a window, and click **Save**; non-critical notifications pause during that window, but security alerts still get through as usual.
* **Q: Do I need to save after changing notification settings?** A: Yes for event-channel checkboxes and quiet hours — click **Save**; adding/removing recipient emails is immediate and needs no save.
* **Q: Where do I view notifications I've already received?** A: Click the bell icon in the top-right of the dashboard to open the Notifications inbox — filterable by Unread/All, type, date, and keyword.
* **Q: How do I mark all notifications as read?** A: Open the bell icon's inbox and click "Mark {count} as read" at the top to mark everything at once; opening a single notification also marks it read automatically.
* **Q: Can notifications be viewed by category?** A: The "Type" filter at the top of the bell inbox lets you filter by Global accounts, Payments, Cards, Crypto, Treasury, Announcement, System.
